Happy Birthday - Window Shopping

Happy Wednesday.

I've been so preoccupied the last few weeks preparing for a class I'm holding this Sunday to show some ladies how to make a double z fold Christmas card that I overlooked making a card for a friend's birthday a few days ago....oops 😟.  Fortunately, we're not seeing her until Saturday, and I did phone her to wish her a happy birthday, so I'm off the hook a bit.

Because the Window Shopping bundle is one of my favourites, it was my first choice for her card. This set has some great sentiments and patterns, with dies that create gift boxes and party favours.  I embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder, after inking the stamp with Versamark then Crumb Cake ink.

Something else I've just realised is that if I'm making one card, I might as well make two (yep I'm a slow learner)! I now have a spare one for later in the year.

My card has been CaSEd from Tina Rappe's blog - www.stampinstudio.com

Male Birthday Card - One Wild Ride

Happy Easter everyone.

Last weekend I attended the Stampin' Up! On Stage event at Luna Park Sydney.  I was lucky to receive so many swaps from some very creative demonstrators.  One in particular was from Tanya Kane who featured the One Wild Ride stampset.  I couldn't help myself...I just had to case it.  This was one set that, while I liked it, I wondered how much use I'd put it to.

After borrowing the set from a friend to make this card, I knew I'd use it often, so I ordered it!  It should arrive after Easter.

Product List

I stamped the bike first, then re-positioned and stamped it twice more without re-inking.  To get the effect on the embossing folder, I inked it with Crumb Cake before running it through the Big Shot.   I must be pretty happy with how it turned out, because I can't stop looking at it :-).

I hope you have a good week.  Bye for now.

April Forgotten Friday

Welcome to April's Forgotten Friday.  Today I am featuring a stampset called Lovely as a Tree which was one of my first Stampin' Up! purchases, way back in 2010!  It's one of those everlasting stamps and is still available in the current catalogue.  Sadly, I don't remember where I first saw this design, so I'm not able to credit anyone - if it was you, please accept my apologies.

March Forgotten Friday

How could I have forgotten this month's Forgotten Friday? 😯  Normal life seems to have taken over sorry.

I've been making swaps for the Stampin' Up! On Stage event in Sydney on 8th April.  I haven't made Shrinky Dinks for years, but it's like riding a bike...I soon remembered what to do.  Making these got me thinking that many of you might be like me and not made them for years, or haven't ever made them.

How are they made?  Here's some very basic instructions/information on how I made them
  1. Stamp the image on the plastic sheet using Black Stazon ink.  I used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set (which is now very black because of the Stazon😢)
  2. Colour the image with any colour you wish.  I used watercolour pencils
  3. Cut out the image.  I used the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits
  4. Punch a hole where required
  5. Add hanger.  These were purchased from Spotlight in Australia.  They're called Mobile Charm Cords
  6. Line a tray with baking paper/foil and bake in oven that has been preheated to 163° C (325°F) for 1 to 3 minutes
  7. Remove and allow an additional 30 seconds to complete the baking process
Here's a photo showing the before baking

and after baking with hangers attached

Tips to remember / Helpful Hints:
  • A permanent ink must be used when stamping the image
  • Water Markers or crayons shouldn't be used to colour
  • Circles or shapes should be cut as smoothly as possible.  Small manicure scissors with pointed and bent tips are ideal, as is a punch or die
  • Punch holes before baking
  • A standard size paper punch is ideal, as is a single hole punch used for jewelry making
  • I used my oven, but you can use a heat gun, but remember to use tweezers not your fingers to hold.  A microwave will not work
  • If you're not happy with the shape after baking, return the piece/s to the oven and bake for another 2-5 minutes until it softens
  • Item can be shaped up to 10 seconds after it is baked
  • # 6 recycle plastic can also be used if you can't find shrinky dinks (I haven't tried this though)
Here is the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this project.

Blender Pens

$17.00

Why not let your imagination run wild and give Shrinky Dinks a go?  I've had fun, and I'm sure you will too.

My friend and Team Leader Chloe was only reminding us this week that our posts should be regular and consistent.  So, with that in mind, please come back on the 2nd Friday in April for my next Forgotten Friday post.

As always, any of the Stampin' Up! products can be ordered from me 24/7 from my online shop or by emailing me.

Bye for now.
